Fair and Lovely BB cream- review and swatches

Hello everyone!

I am back with another product review and today I am going to talk about Fair and Lovely BB Cream.

Fair and Lovely is that one brand which I think is known to every household in the subcontinent i.e. Pakistan and India, their ad campaigns are obviously insulting and discriminate against darker skin tones but most of us still use this cream if not for fairness than because it gives an instant brightness and made up look to the face and we all need something like that for times when we don’t want to put on makeup but want to look polished and presentable.
I used Fair and Lovely fairness Cream a few years back but I did not have a very good experience with it so I stopped using it and because of that I did not have high expectations with this BB cream. But since it was really inexpensive and I was already making an order on daraz.pk so I added it to the cart just to try it out.

I have used it for more than a month and now I'll share my experience with you here.. So let’s get started:
The cream comes in a regular pink and white plastic tube with some golden detailing. The screw cap shuts down tightly so it’s quite travel friendly. It comes in different sizes but I only found the smaller 18g one.
It has a fruity smell exactly like the fair and lovely fairness cream, the smell is strong when it's applied but it goes away after a few minutes.
Before

After

The cream has a thick consistency so I find it a little hard to blend. It blends better if I put it in small dots and blend each dot separately instead of trying to blend at once on whole face. Also, you can not use any brush or sponge to blend it, the only way to blend it is using your fingertips.
It gives a waxy kind of touch to my face and also leaves a white cast. The cream gives a matte finish when applied and looks OK for 3-4 hours but after that my T-zone starts getting really oily. Also this cream has a tendency to clog pores which ultimately result in blackheads.
This BB cream is only available in one shade which I think suits most Pakistani girls with medium skin tone (it looks OK on me) but I think it wouldn’t be suitable for girls who have a little darker skin tone.
It does not give any coverage and does not hide any blemishes or dark spots but yes it instantly brightens up my complexion by evening out the skin tone. Watch the video to see the final result it gives after application.

In the end, I would say that it's an OK product for days when you are in a hurry and don't want to put on a lot of makeup but I don't think I would be using it a lot because it clogs my pores.
That's is for today. I'll be back soon till then take care...

Makeup kit for beginners- Part-II

Hello beauties!

I am back with the second post in my beginners’ makeup kit series and today I am going to talk about the face makeup products i.e. Foundation and the setting powders.
If you have not read the first post you can check it out here. Now lets get started with the foundation.

Foundation:
We use foundation to even out the complexion and to hide any minor imperfections on our skin. There are dozens of types of foundations available so choosing a perfect foundation is a difficult task but I hope these few points will help you in choosing your perfect foundation.

Before buying a foundation these points must be considered:

The coverage you need:

The foundations come with light, medium and heavy coverage.
How much coverage you want would depend on the condition of your skin and on time and occasion where you want to wear the foundation. If you have any blemishes for e.g. acne scars that need to be covered you can go for heavy coverage foundation otherwise choose a light to medium coverage foundation.
Also, wearing a full coverage foundation every day during the daytime is not a good idea as they usually make your makeup look cakey so for everyday use its better to go for a light to medium coverage foundation.
If you are young or have naturally clear skin with no uneven skin tones I would suggest that you start with a BB bream or a tinted moisturizer. Usually BB creams have limited shades and they adjust to the skin tone when applied so it’s easier to choose the shade of BB cream as compared to a foundation
Your skin type:

Your skin type would play an important role in how a foundation looks on your face. If you have oily skin it’s better to use a water based or oil free foundation. Similarly for dry skin go for an oil based foundation but in any case don’t forget to moisturize your face before applying foundation.

Foundations come in powder, liquid, stick as well as in mousse forms. Usually powder foundations work best for oily skin and stick and liquid foundations work for dry to normal and combination skin but that is not necessary it solely depends on the formula of foundation. I prefer liquid or mousse foundations as they are easier to apply and blend.
These are some good budget foundation options:

For light to medium coverage:

For heavy coverage:
  • Kryolan TV paint stick
  • Luscious camera stick full coverage foundation

BB creams:

  • Maybelline 8 in 1 dream fresh BB cream
  • Garnier BB cream miracle skin
  • Oriflame skin dream BB cream

Before buying a foundation consider your skin tone as well as its undertones. I suggest not to order a foundation online if you are buying it for the first time, instead go to the store so you can try the product on your actual skin. Also, the assistant there would help you with finding your right shade.

So that’s all about foundations now let’s move on to the setting powder.

Setting Powder:
If you are using a powder foundation you don’t need to set it with powder but for other types of foundations (and for concealer) setting powder is a must.
You can use loose powder when you do makeup at home but always carry a compact powder in your bag for touch ups during the day.
Again, choose the right shade as per your skin tone and never go overboard with powder because dewy makeup looks more natural as compared to completely matte makeup.

Some suggestions for setting powder:

I have used most of the products mentioned above and I have read good reviews about those which I haven't used but still I recommend that you do your research before buying any of these products.
That's it for today I hope you found this post helpful...
I"ll be back soon till then take care and tell me in the comments which are your favorite foundation and setting powder.

Makeup Revolution Cover and Conceal Palette- Review and swatches

Hello beauties!

I am back with a post that was long overdue.
I bought this Makeup Revolution's cover and conceal palette over a year ago and then totally forgot to post my review. But recently I started using it frequently and decided to share my experience with you. So read on to find out my thoughts on this palette.

Starting with the packaging:

It comes in a sophisticated black plastic packaging with a big mirror inside. The packaging is quite decent considering that its a budget brand. I like to keep this palette in my bag because of this huge mirror.

Shades:
These palettes are available in 3 shades light,  light-medium and dark and each palette contains 8 shades so you are going to find one of these concealers suitable for you no matter what skin tone you are.
I have this palette in light-medium. The palette contains 8 shades from light to medium with pink and yellow undertones.

Normal light

With flash

My experience:
These concealers give medium coverage and they are greasy in texture.
I like concealers that give full coverage without setting under fine lines under my eyes so I don't like using this palette for concealing any blemishes or undereye cirlces but i like using this palette for highlighting my cheekbones and bridge of my nose because they give a dewy finish.

I have the palette in light-medium so none of the shades are dark enough for contouring except the last one which i sometimes use for light and subtle contouring along with a contouring powder and I think its good for contouring as well as highlighting.

Besides coverage, another con I found in this palette is when I use them for covering my dark undereye circles these concealers take ages to blend. I blend them with damp sponge and they take a lot of effort to blend completely and then they set into the fine lines under my eyes. Even after setting with powder they start creasing in few hours and thats why i don't like using it as a concealer.

As far as the staying power is concerned they stay intact for as long as I want if I use a good mattifying primer underneath and even without primer they stay good (a little dewy of course) for upto 5-6 hours on my normal/combination skin but for my under eye circles they start creasing in maximum 2 hours.

Overall i would say its a good palette for highlighting and  contouring but not for covering and concealing. Considering that we get 8 shades in Rs. 1250/- I think it's a great value for money.

Availability and price:
Makeup revolution products are available at daraz.pk in pakistan and you can also order from their own website from anywhere in the world, they ship worldwide.

That's it for today..
I'll be back soon
till then take care and tell me in the comments which is your favourite concealer...I love hearing from you :)

Atiqa Odho Cosmetics face powder- Review and swatches

 Hello beauties!

I'm back and this time with a review of another face powder.
I recently bought atiqa odho cosmetics face powder and after trying it for a few days I am sharing with you my thoughts on this. It's available in 4 shades and I got mine in shade honey.
So read on for details:

Brand's description of the product:
Odho Cosmetics brings you the desirability essentials to enhance your beauty and nourish your loveable skin. The Face Powder- Honey, with its awesome cream color shade, that is carefully formulated keeping in view the Pakistani skin tones and taste, carries an irresistible allure of impeccable enchantment, rich texture and playful appeal. The portability of this little single kit makes it easy to carry around. This kit will make you attain your required skin tone in a most enticing and enchanting manner!

Starting with the packaging.
It comes in a plastic case with red lid and a transparent middle part from which the shade is visible.  The case has two compartments the upper one for the product and the lower one for sponge. The sponge compartment also has a mirror. The packaging is not very sturdy but the size is perfect to carry it around in your bag.

My thoughts:
Now comes the product part. Before buying this face powder I read a few reviews on this product and they all said it gives a very light coverage but I bought it anyways because it's reasonably priced and also because I'm not a powder foundation person, I only use compact powders for setting my makeup so coverage wasn't an issue for me.

Before

Swatch

Since I bought it I am using it as setting powder for my makeup and its working good. I prefer to apply it with a sponge as the powder is too sheer and if I apply it with a powder brush it doesn't do the job.

Also, I am not very happy with the staying power. It keeps my T-zone oil free for up to 2 hours maximum, after that its all gone.
Overall I would say its an OK product. I like it beacuse it's very sheer and doesn't make my makeup look cakey and its affordable in price but it can not be used without a foundation and its not long lasting.

Availability and price:
It's available in leading makeup stores and online on daraz.pk and just4girls.pk for Rs.450/-.

That's it for today..
I'll be back soon till then take care

Misslyn Luminous Makeup- Review and Swatches

Hello beauties!

I'm back with another product review and this time it is a foundation.

One day in the last month I had all the time in the world so I started checking out some products from misslyn's counter, I have been seeing this counter at the store for a long time but never bought anything but that day I bought this luminuos makeup foundation and now here i am sharing with you my experience with this product.
Misslyn is a relatively new brand in Pakistan. I have read reviews about its blushes and lipsticks on some blogs but its foundation or other face makeup products are not much talked about so here I am sharing my experience... Read on to find out did this foundation impress me....

Brand's claims:

SILKY FOUNDATION WITH LIGHT-REFLECTING PIGMENTS
THIS SILKY FOUNDATION IS FOSKINPARTICULARLY LUMINOUS COMPLEXION. THE SOFT TEXTURE GLIDES SMOOTHLY OVER THE SKIN, SETTLING ON IT LIKE A DELICATE VEIL OF LIGHT. THANKS TO THE LIGHT-REFLECTING PIGMENTS, THIS PLEASANT-TO-WEAR FOUNDATION PROVIDES THE COMPLEXION WITH INSTANT VITALITY AND MAKES THE SIGNS OF TIREDNESS AND STRESS DISAPPEAR IN MOMENTS. IT IMPROVES THE SKIN’S NATURAL RADIANCE – AND YOUR IRRESISTIBLE ATTRACTION! THE SKIN GLOWS WITH ENERGY AND FRESHNESS, AND LOOKS SMOOTH AND PERFECT. THE VARIABLE COVERAGE MEANS THAT ANY IRREGULARITIES IN THE SKIN TEXTURE CAN RELIABLY BE COVERED. SQUALANE MAINTAINS THE SKIN’S MOISTURE LEVEL AND HAS A SMOOTHING EFFECT. VITAMIN E HELPS TO FIGHT NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES. SKIN COMPATIBILITY DERMATOLOGICALLY APPROVED. SUITABLE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

Starting with the packaging:
It comes in a light brown color plastic bottle with a nozzle like opening. The cap shuts tightly but with this kind of packaging there's always a risk of squeezing out excess product so I think liquid foundations should come in a bottle with a pump. Also, the bottle can only stand upside down so all the product comes down towards the nozzle and if you are not careful while opening it will create a mess (the opening is small but still there's a risk).

This foundation is available in 8 different shades. The lady at the counter helped me chose the shade which is shade 4 and is called cream it has neutral undertones neither too pink nor too yellow which is perfect for me.

Misslyn's luminous makeup is a liquid foundation. Because of the name luminous I was expecting it to be dewy but it has a matte finish. It gives a light to medium coverage and can be built up to an extent but you should not get too far with building up layers else it will start looking cakey.

When I first applied this foundation on my face I found it a little tacky I don't know how to explain this, I felt like it is getting dry very fast in some areas but in others it is still wet but I loved the finish it gave after it's completely set. I apply it in dots all over my face and then blend one dot at a time in small buffing motion with a kabuki brush.
It gives a matte but slightly luminuos finish at the same time. I do not feel any excess oil around my nose for upto 3-4 hours which is great. It stays intact on my skin for upto 4-5 hours and even longer if I touch it up with a compact powder. Also, this foundation does not feel heavy on the skin so I think it is perfect for everyday wear.

This foundation is not very moisturizing. If I do not use moisturizer underneath, the dry patches around my mouth become even more visible so you need to moisturize your face properly before applying this foundation.

This foundation is available online and on leading makeup stores in karachi for Rs.970/-.
I am using this foundation alot lately and I am quite happy with it. I would recommend this to everyone who is looking for a daily wear foundation. Just make sure that you do not apply a lot of product in one go rather just use a little amount first and then build it up if you need and do not forget to moisturize your face.
That's it for today.
I'll be back soon till then take care and tell me in the comments if you have used any products from missliyn? what do you think about them?...

Dazz Matazz silk finish compact powder- Review

Hello beauties!

How are you doing? I am back with another product review and this time it is a face powder. This face powder is from a brand not very well known i.e. dazz matazz.
The day I bought this powder was the first time when I heard the name of this brand. I always want that I share those products with you which are not already very famous so I decided on that very day that I am going to write a review on it but I don't know why it got delayed.
I have been using this compact powder on and off for about 5-6 months (its almost finished now) so I think now is the best time to share my experience with you.

So, this compact is named " dazz matazz silk finish compact powder". The compact comes in light green plastic packaging with a small mirror on the lid. I don't like the color and also the quality of plastic is not very good and the size of mirror is so small that it's of no use. But all that doesn't bother me as what actually matters is what's inside. right?

This powder is available in 4 shades I got mine in honey light-02 which I think is the darkest shade. This is one of the cons I found that even the darkest shade is not very dark.

In winters I like dewy glowy face makeup so I just apply it lightly on my face with a kabuki brush for setting my foundation but I don't use its own applicator or any other sponge as it makes my face look whitish and powdery.

I usually get oil around my nose when I am wearing makeup so I set it with this powder and this compact helps in keeping my makeup set for upto 3 hours but after that I need to touch it up.

In summers I have tried using this powder as a foundation along with a concealer and it gives a reasonable coverage, in this case I apply it with a wet sponge. It gives a powdery finish but I think for summers a lighter and matte finish is better. It actually has a silky soft texture and feels smooth on the skin.

This compact is available for Rs.525/- at most of the makeup stores and online on dazzmatazz.com , daraz.pk and just4girls.pk.

I would recommend this powder to you if you want an inexpensive compact powder which gives reasonable coverage, it is good for touch ups during the day but there are some points which are not in its favour i.e. the staying power is not very good and there are only 4 shades available so if you want to use it alone as a foundation it may be difficult to get the right shade.

That's it for today
I'll be back soon till then take care...

Oriflame Peach Me Perfect skin glow- Review

Hello people!
I'm back! hope you all are doing great..
Today I'm here to share my thoughts on Oriflame's Peach me perfect skin glow. It is a tinted moisturizer basically but can be used in multiple ways.
So I am starting with, What the brand says:
Bring out the best in your complexion. Tinted gel moisturiser with a lightweight finish gives you a peachy, natural glow. Can be worn alone or with your favourite foundation.
Packaging:
It comes in a black tube with really cute Orange cover. Honestly, the package was one of the reasons I bought it.

Now, How I use it?
I have tried using it in three ways:

First, solely as a tinted moisturizer.
Second, as a highlighter, and
Third, I mix it with my foundation and apply over my face.
When I used it separately I found that it does not give any coverage I think only people with very clear and even toned skin can use it this way. Since I need a little coverage I prefer to mix it with my liquid foundation. It has little shimmery particles which give a subtle glow to the skin and No they are not actually glittery sort of particles they are really tiny which only give a dewy glowy effect but does not make it glittery. I don't know why but these days I am hooked to Korean makeup and since Korean makeup is all about glowy and dewy skin I am using this product quite a lot lately.
Another way I use it is as a highlighter. After I'm done with all my makeup I just take a little amount and lightly dab it onto my cheeks just above the blush.
Then,  What I feel about it:

  • It has a sweet peachy fragrance but you can only feel it while applying, its gone after sometime.

  • It is lightweight but does not give any coverage so if you want to skip the foundation you will need a concealer for the problem areas.
  • It dries out very fast so you need to be very quick while applying, that is the reason I prefer blending it quickly with my fingers rather than using any brushes.
  • In summers it feels a little sticky so I needed to set it with powder.
Availability:
Price: Around Rs.600 For 30 ml.

It is available from Oriflame's consultant and also from daraz.pk.

Overall, I think it is a good product and I will buy it again but the only way I will be using it is mixing with my foundation to make it more glowy and dewy.
Okh this is it for now I'll be back soon till then take care.

Essence soft touch matte mousse foundation Review

Hello pretties
Hope you all are doing great and enjoying the scorching sun.. nah?
Yea I know summers are difficult especially when it comes to skin care and makeup. We want to do all possible things to keep cool and look beautiful without sweating and melting.
This very thing lead me to search a new foundation for summers that I can wear for long office hours. I wanted to try a mousse foundation for a long time (they all look so yummy) but don't know why never get a chance.  So now I thought I should try a mousse foundation. I considered maybelline,  catrice and essence's mousse foundation but after some research i.e. reading some bloggers' reviews I decided on buying the essence one i.e.  Essence Soft Touch Mousse Makeup Foundation in shade matte sand 01 and now after using it for a while (around 2 months) here I am sharing my own thoughts with you.

Starting from the packaging:
It comes in a glass jar which obviously can be broken easily. Also, we need to put our finger or brushes to take out the product which may cause bacteria accumulation.  I use  a clean small eyeshadow brush instead of any foundation brush. I just take out the needed amount in only one swipe and then apply it all over my face and neck and then blend with the foundation brush.
Now, What does the brand say?
the make-up range with a super delicate mousse texture gives your face a smooth and natural-looking matt complexion while allowing your skin to breathe freely.

How I feel?
Its very lightweight you can feel nothing after applying it on your skin which is a plus.  Also it gives a complete matte finish to the skin which most of us prefer in summers but it gives very light coverage. It can even out the uneven skin tone but can not cover any dark blemishes or undereye circles so I need to use a concealer all the time.
I got mine in 01 matte sand which looks different in the jar then it's actual shade. Initially I wasn't satisfied as I felt the shade is not right for me but then I realized I am using an enormous amount to get enough coverage. That means you can not build it up to get high coverage as it will become Cakey. When I applied in small quantity I'm quite happy with it.
Being a mousse foundation it's really easy to apply and blend. Also, since it's oil free it keeps my skin shine free for almost 5-6 hours and I do not need to apply any pressed powder over it to keep it matte looking.

Overall I feel it's a good value for money especially for girls who do not have any major skin issues like acne marks or very dark under eye circles.
Would I buy it again?
I think yes but (there's always a but :p) I only use it for everyday use, for more made up looks I'll go for a heavy or atleast medium coverage foundation.
Availability?
It's available on essence counters all over Pakistan and also online on daraz.pk and other websites. I got mine for around Rs.700 I don't remember exactly.
In the end I'll sum up how to use briefly: Use it with a concealer as it is light coverage.
Do not try to build up to get high coverage.
That's it for today.
Wish you all health and happiness
Take care.. I'll be back soon
Till then bubye 
