Got a girl crush...

Hello people!
I am back with another post although I am supposed to be studying a lot these days with only few days left in exams but as they say even staring at wall becomes interesting during exams. And this is no staring at wall but my blog which I have started with so much love so how can I stay away from it.
I have many blog posts planned with drafts in my mind but can’t get time to sit and write them down so for today just a quickie…
With Cannes festival going on, all I see over my newsfeed is images of gorgeous actresses attending the event in those beautiful and glamorous clothes and accessories..  and after seeing this image I just knew I gotta share this

I just love this blue gown and the jewelry although I didn't like the makeup here but overall the lady looked gorgeous… I have got a real girl crush on Sonam Kapoor..

After this, I just searched some more pics of her with some of her quotes and there comes a post..

love the necklace...
The desi look
my favorite..

I think every single imperfection adds to your beauty. I'd rather be imperfect than perfect.
For me, a holiday is about taking a book and going to a mountain and reading. (Its just so me well sometimes)..
I only discovered the 'Harry Potter' series in my tenth standard. I dived right into it, often reading non-stop through the day and night. It was the morning after one such readathon when I was to appear for a Chemistry exam. Spending my night with the third edition of Harry Potter didn't help much, and I fared poorly. (Now this is really me when I am reading a book I cant sleep till I finish it I have had weeks of sleepless nights)..

Quotes apart I love this girl for her style and how she is always appropriately dressed for every occasion.

Ok that's enough of my ramblings now but I'll be back soon with more.. Take care :)

Stiefel's 60 Sun Block Cream Review..

Hello beautiful world!

Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the summer and exams season, and the juicy fruits and drinks and, Ice creams and, lawn dresses with all those cute accessories and lazy afternoons and a loads of things.. Although I love winter more but every season is beautiful (feeling thankful) :) ..

In my last post I wrote quite a lot about the importance of using sun protection and also promised you a review of a sunblock (since it’s the month of skin care awareness) So here Iam, back with a review of a sun block that I have recently bought. Before I start I need to confess that most of the time I forget to wear sunblock before leaving home, many of my old sunblocks have ended up to trash bin but sometime back I resolved to always use a sun block. Then I saw a billboard of Stiefel 60 sunblock cream and decided to give it a try and now I am reviewing it for you...

So Starting with first thing i.e. The active ingredients.
4-methylbenzylidene camphor
Microfine Zinc Oxide.
AAhhh difficult names...
I wonder how do they pronounce ‘em, it took me long enough to just read and copy them.

Then, What does the brand say about it:
With SPF 60 and UVA PF 40.
Non-greasy and invisible cream. Recommended for every outdoor activity.

Highlighted features:
Broad Spectrum
Paraben free

Water- resistant

Directions for usage:
Apply on the area exposed to sunlight (such as face, neck and body) atleast 3 minutes before exposure.
First I want to share a little bit of details about what these ingredients do to our skin and then I’ll share what I felt about the product.
Octylmethoxycinnamate is used in sunscreens and other cosmetics to absorb UV-B rays from the sun, protecting the skin from damage. It is also used to reduce the appearance of scars.
4-Methylbenzylidene camphor  is used in sunscreens to protect the skin against UV, specifically UV B radiation.
Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane) is an oil soluble ingredient used in sunscreen products to absorb the full spectrum of UVA rays

Now, What I think about the product:
It comes in a tube and is in cream form and says its for people with normal skin. It can be used on all parts of the body as well as on face and neck. It smells like medicines but its gone after few minutes of application so it doesn’t bother me.
Although it says its non-greasy I felt greasiness on my face if I apply enough amount so I need to use powder foundation to fix the shine and control excess oil production. It does not feel greasy on other body parts.
When applied it leaves a visible white cast. The good thing about this sun block is it actually does what it is supposed to do i.e. it actually provides sun protection I have been using it for more than a month now and I did not get any tan.
Another good thing about it which is worth mentioning is its Paraben free. While searching over the internet I read somewhere that a good sunblock should be paraben free because it may react with UVB leading to increased skin aging and DNA damage. It is also linked with cancer and early puberty in girls, although this is not yet established but obviously it is better to go for paraben free alternatives.
The stiefel’s sunblock is available at all leading drugstores and pharmacies in Pakistan I guess. I got mine from Bin Hashim pharmacy and supermarket. The price is super affordable i.e. only Rs 250/- for 20 g tube.
I would love to hear your thoughts about the product and about my post. This is it for now. I'll be back soon..

Take care

Skin cancer awareness...

Hello beautiful people!
Hope you all are doing great and enjoying the heat. With May, full fledged summer is here and yes I am hating it.
To everyone there is a season and for me it is winter. I love duvets, cardigans , soups, hot coffee, blanket on sofa while watching endless episodes of TV serials.
There are sooo many reasons why I Love winter but there are only two reason for not liking summer and these are Sweating and the damage to skin caused by sun (not that sun doesn't affect our skin in winters but the level of damage is very high in summer).
Since the months of heat are here I decided to search and make a proper skin care routine for this season. While searching I found that May is the month of Skin Cancer Awareness ( I didn't have a slight idea that such a thing exist).
Well! So I did a little research on the topic and then decided to also share a few things with my readers that I came to know about skin cancer and what we can do to protect us from this deadly disease.
There are many forms of skin cancer with difficult names like melanoma, carcinoma, neuroendocrine carcinoma etc. I don’t know what are the differences in all these, what causes them, or what are their symptoms but I have just gathered a few basics which we all need to know so that we can at least do something for our protection.
First thing first: What can cause skin cancer?:
1-       Sunlight:  Sunlight is a source of UV radiation. It’s the most important risk factor for any type of skin cancer
2-       Personal history: People who have had at least one severe blistering sunburn are at increased risk of skin cancer.
3-       Family history: Having two or more close relatives (mother, father, sister, brother, or child) who have had this disease is a risk factor for developing skin cancer.
4-        Skin that burns easily: Having fair (pale) skin that burns in the sun easily, blue or gray eyes, red or blond hair, or many freckles increases the risk of skin cancer.
5-       Certain medical conditions or medicines: Medical conditions or medicines (such as some antibiotics, hormones, or antidepressants) that make your skin more sensitive to the sun increase the risk of skin cancer. Also, medical conditions or medicines that suppress the immune system increase the risk of skin cancer.
6-       More than 50 common moles: Usually, a common mole is smaller than a pea, has an even color (pink, tan, or brown), and is round or oval with a smooth surface. Having many common moles increases the risk of developing  skin cancer.

Now comes the most important part i.e. what should we do?
1-       We should try to cover our body with clothes as much as possible. Using long sleeves and darker color fabrics are a good idea.
2-       Try to stay in shade especially during 10 AM to 4 PM.
3-       Use big sunglasses which shield not only the eyes but the surrounding area also.
4-       Use a quality sunscreen every single time we go out in sun whether its summer or winter. It should be able to block UVB as well as UVA rays.
5-       New born babies should not be exposed to sunlight as it can put them in higher risk of skin cancer for all their lives.
6-       We should apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going into sun.
7-       We should apply a good quantity of sunscreen, ideally we need 1 ounce ( 2 tablespoons) of sunscreen for our whole body.  Sunscreen should be reapplied after 2-3 hours.
8-       Do not forget to apply sunscreen on lips, ears and scalp. Yes there are oil free sunscreens available for scalp but if you don’t feel like wearing them you can cover your head with a scarf or hat while you are directly exposed to sun.
9-       We should always be conscious of any changes in our skin and if anything suspicious is noticed immediately consult a doctor.
So, that’s it for today. I’ll be reviewing a sun block I have recently purchased in my next post till then bubye.
Take care people luv you J
