Why to use a makeup primer? and two of my favorite primers

Hello beauties!

Applying flawless foundation and making it last all day is one of the biggest beauty concerns for women like me who love makeup. When I first started using and collecting makeup I believed that primer is just an additional step that does not have much effect on makeup because I had read many makeup artist do not use primers but than I bought Makeup Revolution ultra face base Primer just to try it out and it completely changed my views.

If you are new to makeup or have never used a primer be ready! I am going to convince you to invest in a primer by the end of this post. So let's get started with the benefits of primer:

  • So as the name suggests a primer is the product we use to prime (prepare) our skin before putting on any makeup. When we use foundation over  primer it has something to hold on to so it stays on longer.
  • I have combination skin which gets really oily around nose areas in summer and with the oiliness comes the problem of visible pores. A silicon based mattifying primer helps in addressing both of these problems. A good primer helps in blurring the visible pores and also give a smoothing effect to the skin which makes foundation application easy and quick.
  • Since the primer fills the pores, lesser amount of foundation is needed to get the same coverage. Less foundation means less cakiness.
  • Even if you don't want to put on makeup you can use a primer to get smooth, poreless looking skin.
Now that you know how important it is to use a face primer to get flawless long lasting makeup, I am going to share with you my two favorite primers that give all the above benefits without burning a hole in your pocket.

The first one is of course the Makeup Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer. It keeps my face matte all day which automatically means that the makeup will last longer. I reviewed it in detail a long time ago, in case you want to read it here's the link.

Another primer I like using is Maybelline baby skin. It is also a colorless, silica based primer which does not feel heavy on skin. It doesn't have any fragrance or tint. It claims to blur out the pores and give smooth skin and it actually lives up to its claims. It does not claim to prolong the durability of makeup but it's an additional benefit. Overall just like most maybelline products it is a great value for money.

That's it for today girls...

How to deal with the stress of being unemployed...

Hello Beauties!

I have been meaning to do this post for quite some time but I usually don't talk about very serious and personal stuff on the blog so I wasn't sure about writing this post (not that makeup isn't serious stuff for me. Of course it is but today's topic is more serious because it involves emotions and stress and finances and basically everything in life.
So a few weeks back I finally decided to leave my job. In the beginning I was all happy and satisfied but then the euphoria faded down and I realized it is not as easy to cope with unemployment as it seemed in the beginning. I do not regret my decision at all but now I know it is one of the most stressful life experiences. It's only been a few weeks since I quit but I already feel frustrated because being unemployed changes the way we see ourselves. I started comparing myself with others who are doing better with their lives, I was losing my self esteem and confidence and I used to feel miserable all the time. But then I thought feeling miserable is not going to do any good I need to take control of my life and so I started to look for ways to fix my life and get the maximum out of my free days.

Here are the few things that have helped me in getting my life sorted. I am still not working but I feel so much better and purposeful now.

Routine:
You don't have anywhere to go, you don't have much to do, you have lots of free time so you can spend as many hours in bed as you want. Right?...
WRONG.
Do not procrastinate, do not become lazy it will make you feel more miserable. Get up, do the things that need to be done early in the morning. Pay more attention to yourself.
Remember when you had a job you wanted to do a lot of things but didn't have time? Now you have it so utilize it, don't waste it lying in bed.
I make a to do list everyday as soon as I get up and tick the items off when they are done. I exercise regularly now and pay more attention to my skin care and health. My to do list also include "what I am going to eat in a day" so I don't end up eating any junk when I am bored.

Hobbies:
If I am asked what are my hobbies I am never able to give a specific answer because I like doing a lot of things. I like reading, I love putting on makeup,I like accounting and baking and making DIY crafts, I like reading other people's blogs so I do a lot of these things but I do these only during the time I have set aside for these activities in my timetable.
- Do not waste all your time on social media and gadgets I suggest you to get a productive hobby.

Freelancing:
Freelancing and working from home is a thing these days. There are websites where you can find freelance work but usually it is difficult for newbies to get work there so I suggest you to join some Facebook groups and contact people offering jobs which you can do.
As I said I like accounting so I help some small businesses with their accounts and finance work.

Get dressed every single day:
You are not going anywhere doesn't mean you can stay in your PJ's all day. Keep this for weekends only, on weekdays get dressed properly. Take shower, do your hair, wear some makeup, lipstick and mascara have magical powers to instantly boost your mood, believe me.

Travel:
Since I was finally not busy, my dad planned a family trip to KSA and Dubai and I don't think I need to talk about how much traveling can change your perspective of life and can help you have a fresh start. You learn a lot of things when you travel, you learn to value experiences over things, you learn to face different situations, you become open and accepting towards different ways of life.
If you have enough savings, TRAVEL.  But of course it is not sensible to spend all your savings on traveling especially when you are jobless so try exploring you own city instead.

Meditate:
I used to meditate regularly few years ago but then... life happened, I got busy with studies and work and everything and stopped practicing it, but now I have started it again. I feel so much better when I meditate I can't even explain it. You need to do it yourself to see what I mean. I'll do a separate post very soon about what techniques and what Apps i use to meditate.

Feel Alive:
Do things which make you feel alive watch cricket or football matches, play video games, do things which you are passionate about, they make adrenaline spun and make you feel alive and help you get rid of miserable feelings.

So that's it for today...
I'll be back soon... till than take care

Hair Brush: cleaning and maintenance...

Hello beauties!

Hair brush cleaning
I am back with another hair related post well it is not actually about hair but about hair brushes but isn't that the same thing? Yes it is ,because a good quality and well maintained hair brush make a hell lot of difference to how your hair look.
So here I am sharing a few tips which can help you in getting the best out of your hair brush. So let's get started:

Most women are very careful about cleaning their makeup brushes so they don't get any pimples but it's surprising that they neglect their hair brush which is equally important. All the dirt and germs and oils and all gross things from our unwashed hair are piled up in the hair brush and when we use it again everything is transferred back to our clean hair which makes them look dull and dirty, so cleaning the hair brush regularly is very important and also it's very simple, just follow the steps below:
- Remove the hair from brush after every use. I use the tail of rat tail comb but you can also use a pen or pencil. Just run the pen through the bristles a few time and pull out the hair strands. Don't forget to make a hair ball and discard it immediately.
- Wash your brush with a shampoo or soap regularly. I usually do it in 2-3 weeks (sometimes after a month). Just soak the bristles in soapy water for a few minutes and lightly scrub with an old tootbrush or fingers. Then let it dry for a few hours.

- Do not use brush on wet hair instead use a wide tooth comb as wet hair tend to break more and are not easy to pull out from the brush.

- Buy a good quality hair brush that doesn't get ruined when you wash it or pull out the hair from it. Usually we don't pay much attention to the type of brush we are buying but it is important to get the right brush for your hair for example a natural boar bristle brush is gentle and good for fine hair and nylon synthetic bristles are best for super thick hair, so do your research before buying one. You can use a hair brush for years so it's worth investing in plus a good quality brush will last longer than a bad one.If the plastic balls at the top of bristles start coming out or the brush starts tangling you hair too much you should immediately buy a new one.

So that's it for today. I'll be back soon till then take care...
